Southern Comfort

Sophia got to meet her "southern" aunt and uncle this weekend! Ben and Ariel drove up from TN to spend Thanksgiving with us in Hudson. We have not seen them since June, so we were all very excited to see them! It is really crazy to me that we are already in the stage of life where we only see our siblings during major events like, weddings, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc... Not that long ago, we all lived under the same roof and saw too much of each other sometimes. Now we can't get enough. I am very sad that I don't get to see my brothers and new sisters more often, but very thankful for reunions like this one.

Sicky Icky Poo Poo

Sophia and I were visited by the sicky icky poo poo monster this week. Sophie was only sick for about 2 days, during which neither of us got any sleep. That's when I got the nasty bug. I had an extremely sore throat, got congested and lost my voice for 3 days. Baby and mommy being sick at the same time is NO FUN AT ALL. My sister Anna came over for 2 nights to help out. Between Jared and Anna taking turns watching Soph, I was able to sleep through the night for two nights in a row! It was amazing. I was hoping that would chase away the icks, but this is one stubborn bug. I am still coughing and congested. Sophia is doing much better, except that she is still not sleeping real well.

Growing and Grinning

Sophia is growing so fast! She is becoming more and more expressive each day. This week she has mastered a killer pouty face (which she puts on when momma is taking too long getting ready to nurse) and she is working on her smile!!!

We brought her to the cardiologist last week for a check-up, and the news we received was wonderful! She had chest x-ray to measure the size of her heart, which was normal. Her O2 test was 100% ( her blood is fully oxygenated). And the results of the EKG looked great (monitors the flow of her blood throughout her body)!!!

Hooked up for the EKG

Blabber Mouth

I went in for my six week postpartum check-up yesterday. Let me share a snipet of my conversation with the midwife...

M: You should be doing some tummy crunches everyday to close the gap where your muscles split.
N: Okay! I did them for the first two weeks, but now I keep forgetting.
M: Ugh, it's hard for me to sit here and tell to you that you need to do tummy crunches when you're so skinny.
N: (laugh nervously, what do you say to that?)
M: Ha! I am sitting here telling you to do tummy crunches with my flabby abs hanging out. (Grabbing her abs to demonstrate) Maybe someday I'll be as skinny as you.
N almost: No, someday I'll probably be as big as you.

Oh. my. gosh. Sooo glad that didn't fly out of my mouth.

My Baby Has a Walk-In

Thank you to EVERYONE for your generosity at Sophia's baby shower! She has so many cute new outfits that I have a hard time deciding what to put her in each day. (I usually get to try at least 2-3 outfits per day though, since she likes to decorate them with her bodily functions.) Our little girl truly is spoiled... she has a walk-in closet that is almost full. The closest I ever came to having a walk-in closet growing up was when I lived in one! I was six. We were between homes and living in a small two bedroom apartment. I did not want to share a room with my two older brothers, so my parents generously offered their walk-in to me. I had my bed in there and all. It lasted for maybe a month. I got lonely and ended up in bed with my parents or my brothers every night. Oh well. That was my walk-in.

I hope all of you out there in blogland will accept this as my resounding THANK YOU. I have started nannying again for my little pal, Emma. Between the two little rascals, I have found it difficult to get myself dressed in the morning, much less writing thank-you cards. If you'd like one, I would be happy to write you one, but it may not reach you 'til Christmas. Fair warning.

I want to say a special THANK YOU to Erin, Cara and Sarah for giving us such a beautiful party!!! I cannot begin to tell you three how much that meant to me. I love you all, and can easily see how much you love me too. I am so grateful for your generosity. I couldn't have asked for a better shower. Everything was so beautiful and the food was delicious! So again-- THANK YOU!!!
